1Password took on a brand refresh in 2023 to further elevate the brand’s look, feel, and messaging. As a brand long known for its illustration-led storytelling, 1Password has always stood apart in the cybersecurity space—a world often dominated by dark palettes and technical visual tropes.
We took this as an opportunity to reimagine the system from the ground up, and define what it truly means to look and feel like 1Password across a growing range of channels and use cases.
After many rounds of exploration and refinement, we landed on a solution that felt right.
We organized the system into four distinct categories—each fulfilling a unique storytelling purpose, but all unified through style, tone, and craft.
A defining feature of our new system is its organic texture—giving warmth and tactility to digital compositions.
The right brush captured the essence of the human touch.
The illustration system has matured into a robust, scalable foundation. Our library has multiplied in scale, with freelance contributors adopting the style with ease.
It now serves as a backbone across every touchpoint—from marketing campaigns and social content to product storytelling and internal materials.
