Alongside our external-facing work, the Brand Design team at 1Password regularly supports internal initiatives that strengthen our company culture. For this project, I collaborated with an in-house designer to art direct a freelance illustrator in developing visual identities for eight employee-led groups, spanning both Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Employee Community Groups (ECGs).

ERG ECG Visual Identity

Role
Art Direction

To maintain visual cohesion across the set, we used the silhouette of the 1Password logo as a shared canvas. This structural consistency provided a foundation, allowing each group’s voice to emerge through color, motif, and symbolism.

Designing eight identities meant collaborating with eight different communities—each with its own values, tone, and approval process. Respectful, intentional stakeholder engagement was central to the process, ensuring that each logo felt authentically representative.

Each logo was designed as more than a visual identifier—it became a source of pride and recognition for the communities it represents. As a system, these marks are unified yet expressive, grounded in brand architecture while celebrating individuality.

These identities now appear across internal communications, event materials, Slack icons, and presentation decks—reminding every employee of the people and perspectives that give shape to our culture.
